The aim was to build a unit for 10 children with autism spectrum disorders and dual diagnosis. The centre for adults has also been rebuilt, with 11 additional dual diagnosis places added.
Les Anémones is one of Wallonia's oldest and best-known not-for-profit organisations, specialising in care for people with learning disabilities and dual diagnosis. Its residents are divided into a residential centre (day and night) for children and a residential centre for adults. There are also supervised flats.
We will be following with interest the collaboration and complementarities that will be established with another of our homes, the La Maisonnée dual diagnosis adult home.
The construction of the new building housing these new activities costed €6,000,000. The operating costs are borne by the Walloon region.
We have been supporting this project with €400,000 for the construction. We have received the agreement of the ROGER DE SPOELBERCH Foundation for a very substantial amount and of the Lokumo Foundation, and already had the support of Ceperive, which brings Constellations' total effort to €2,300,000. The non-profit association Les Anémones has also achieved spectacular results, leaving us with only €400,000 to find for the construction, which has just been found thanks to further support from the ROGER DE SPOELBERCH Foundation.
A fund-raising campaign on social networks generated promising results, and Constellations has contributed once again with friendly foundations.
We had obtained planning permission in just 3 months!Construction progressed very quickly, as you can see below.
The site began in mid-May 2023 with the laying of the foundations. The prefabricated blocks were then laid in August. The building was rendered watertight at the end of December 2023. At the beginning of 2024, the exterior joinery and interior partitions were installed, along with all the special technology, i.e. electrical installations, ventilation units, etc. Next came all the insulation work, underfloor heating and screeds, followed by insulation, waterproofing of the roofs and finishing with gyproc panels.
July and August were devoted to interior painting, sanitary fittings and lighting.
The building will be delivered in mid-September 2024, a real tour de force for which the whole team is to be congratulated, especially Mr Leriche. As far as running costs are concerned, the AVIQ has agreed to open in September 2024.
